LABYRINTHS
By Jadran Sturm, 1990. Stockholm, Sweden.
Installation with 12 oil paintings on paper.
After having worked for a long time with his Pyramid series, these paintings were created intuitively during one day on a continuous roll of brown paper. Each labyrinth was roughly cut off upon completion, before the next painting begun. They were exhibited on a wall next to the installation Pyramids, to create a dialogue between the two works. During this period, Jadran also wrote several texts in Swedish which connect to his pyramids and labyrinths. Each text has a distinct visual composition marking rhythm and pauses. Below you can read a translation and see an example of how he wrote.
